My role
I was part of the visual team, where I took charge of most of the visuals, copywriting, and the overall design of the fanzine and Instagram carousel. Despite the cover being standardized by our professor, I infused the project with creativity by choosing a font with rounded, almost distorted corners to evoke the feel of handwritten text, reflecting the dynamism of climate activism. Variations in font weight were used to convey movement and change, symbolizing the campaign’s urgency.
From Mind to Design
The design incorporated green backgrounds with splashes of paint, echoing the activist's preferred mediums of watercolor, acrylic, and the boldness of spray paint used in protests. These elements were carefully selected to create a visual narrative that resonates with the activist’s message and artistic style.
Personal Reflection
Working on this project deepened my understanding of how to visually communicate complex issues across multiple formats, ensuring a cohesive and impactful campaign. The experience has greatly influenced my approach to design, particularly in creating visually compelling narratives that support social causes.
